Donald Trump has filed a defamation swimsuit towards E. Jean Carroll, alleging the author falsely accused him of rape — after a Manhattan federal jury discovered the previous president accountable for sexual assault in her civil case towards him.
Trump, 77, filed counterclaims towards the previous “Ask E. Jean” recommendation columnist on Tuesday accusing her of defaming him when she maintained in a CNN interview that he raped her, regardless of the jury solely figuring out he must be on the hook for sexual abuse.
Carroll, 79, “made these statements realizing every of them have been false or with reckless disregard for his or her fact and falsity,” the submitting alleges.
Jurors on Could 9 awarded Carroll a $5 million verdict within the case, discovering Trump accountable for sexual abuse and defamation for claiming in Oct. 22 that he didn’t know Carroll and calling her accusations a hoax after she went public.
Carroll has one other lawsuit pending towards Trump for allegedly defaming her in a collection of public statements made after she got here out along with her accusations in June 2019.
