Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen was arrested in Washington, DC Thursday throughout a protest in assist of Wikileaks writer Julian Assange.
Cohen, of the favored Vermont-based ice cream model, decried the US’s prosecution of Assange as an assault on freedom of the press exterior the Division of Justice constructing together with the feminist activist group CODEPINK.
Cohen and CODEPINK co-founder Jodie Evans had been each arrested for blocking the doorway to the DOJ constructing as they sat in entrance of the pathway for almost an hour within the pouring rain, video exhibits.
At the beginning of the protest, the ice cream govt lit a “Freedom of the Press” signal on fireplace as he stated: “Freedom of the press goes up in smoke.”
